Be Who You Needed When You Were Younger

Don't underestimate the power of your story.

Even imperfect, everyday experiences matter — they show others different ways forward and help break stereotypes. By sharing yours, you can inspire girls to believe in themselves, pursue their ambitions, and shape their own futures.

Your journey can be a powerful motivator, and your experiences, no matter how long you've been working, can offer valuable insights. Emotional maturity and a willingness to share are key to being a role model, especially for girls who are figuring out their own paths.

HSBC Asset Management Business Development Manager

“This was an excellent opportunity for engaging with young people and discussing the importance of career and financial planning. By connecting with them at this stage, we can help raise awareness about the value of making informed decisions early on, which can have a significant impact on their future prospects.

Through these conversations, we can offer guidance and share practical advice, empowering them to take charge of their personal and professional development. Our support can help them lay the foundations for a brighter and more secure future.”

Maggie Zhou

HSBC Associate Director, Institutional Marketing

“Participating in the EmpowerHer Future program was a dream come true for me, as I’ve always wanted to teach and inspire.

I loved getting to know the girls and felt so fulfilled watching them transform from shy to confident and expressive young women.

It was truly a heartwarming experience.”

I have some questions…

  • Inspiring Girls is an international charity dedicated to raising the aspirations of young girls around the world by inspiring and empowering them to believe in their dreams. We do this by connecting them with female role models from diverse backgrounds - we want to show girls the limitless possibilities in their future careers, whilst breaking inherent gender and cultural stereotypes.

  • We connect girls with inspiring female Role Models from all walks of life through a thoughtfully designed five-module program. Each module explores a unique theme, helping girls discover their identity, build confidence, and strengthen self-esteem and resilience through engaging, age-appropriate activities.

Throughout the program, girls meet incredible women who share their personal and professional journeys—offering real-life insights, encouragement, and inspiration. These interactions take place either online or in person, through school-based sessions or workplace visits, creating meaningful moments that leave a lasting impact.

  • As a volunteer Role Model, you will have the opportunity to connect with girls in person or online, depending on the school's preference. During these interactions, you will share your career journey, experiences, and challenges with the girls, as well as provide them with valuable insights and guidance on pursuing their own career and life goals. You will have the chance to help break down gender stereotypes, inspire the girls to pursue their passions and interests, and provide them with a positive role model to look up to.

  • The Inspiring Girls program operates on an opt-in approach, which means that there is no minimum or maximum commitment required of our volunteer Role Models. We understand that everyone has different schedules and responsibilities, so we have designed the program to be flexible and accommodating around your availability. We will send you regular invitations to participate in various activities and events, and you can choose to participate in the ones that work best for you. This allows you to be a part of the program at your own pace and convenience, while still making a meaningful impact on the girls you will be meeting.

  • We are looking for role models who are fluent in English, as well as Cantonese and Mandarin, and potentially other languages. Our schools are both local and international, so hosting in different languages is necessary. Please note that the language requirement will always be specified in the module invite.

  • Click the “Sign Up” button on this page to get started! Once you’ve submitted the form, you’ll receive a welcome email with all the next steps.

If you don’t see the email right away, please check your junk or spam folder—it might have landed there by mistake.

We’re excited to have you on board!

  • Upon signing up, you will receive a welcome newsletter from us introducing our organization. Following that, you will receive an invitation to attend our induction training, which is held online. Upon completion of the training, you will be able to begin participating in the program's modules with the other role models. Please keep in mind that attendance at the induction training is mandatory to be a part of the program.

  • This is a one-hour online session designed to walk you through the program details and clarify expectations for your role as a Role Model. You’ll have the opportunity to:

    • Connect with fellow Role Models and build a supportive network

    • Receive coaching on how to share your personal story in a way that resonates powerfully with girls

    • Explore how your experiences can inspire and empower the next generation

We’re excited to welcome you into this journey and look forward to seeing the impact you’ll make.

  • We'll send you an email newsletter with all the details about each module, including the date, time, location, and any language requirements. All our modules are registered on Eventbrite, and the email invite will include a link to secure your spot. Remember, spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis!

We'll aim to send module invites approximately 4 weeks in advance, giving you time to plan your schedule. We'll also send a reminder closer to the date if your availability changes.

  • Each module is facilitated by a trained Host from the Inspiring Girls team. The Host plays a vital role in ensuring the session runs smoothly—from guiding the flow of activities to supporting Role Models and creating a warm, empowering atmosphere for everyone involved.

Hosts help set the tone, encourage meaningful conversations, and make sure every girl feels seen and inspired.

If you’re interested in stepping into this role, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact our team to learn more about hosting opportunities.

  • Once you sign up for a module, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to preparation materials. These resources are designed to help you feel confident and ready for your session.

Preparation requirements may vary depending on whether your module is online or in-person. In both cases, we encourage you to select a few meaningful photos from your mobile phone to help illustrate your story—these visual moments can make your storytelling even more relatable and impactful for the girls.

We’ve kept the prep light and simple so you can focus on what matters most: connecting, inspiring, and having fun!

  • As a Role Model volunteer, you have the flexibility to choose which sessions to participate in based on your availability. You can register for as many or as few sessions as you wish, and you can change your participation as your schedule changes. It's an opt-in approach, and we appreciate whatever time you can volunteer.

  • We organize 1-2 activities in schools per week from September to May. Each module lasts 1-1.5 hours. You're also invited to attend our graduation ceremony and career fair in June.

  • You can work with as many schools as you like, or you can choose to stick with one school if you prefer. You will receive invites to all modules, regardless of the school, as long as the language requirements are met. You can choose which modules to attend based on your schedule. If you're unable to attend certain sessions due to other commitments, that's okay. Remember, the Inspiring Girls program is an opt-in approach, and we appreciate any time that you can volunteer.

  • As per our safeguarding policy, one-on-one interactions with beneficiaries outside of official program activities are not permitted. Exchanging personal contact information with minors is strictly prohibited.

If you wish to engage further, please contact our team to obtain formal consent from both the teacher and the parents. Without this consent, continued communication is not allowed. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

  • We understand that schedules change! If you are no longer to make a session, please let us know ASAP either by emailing us directly, or cancelling your attendance via Eventbrite.

  • Absolutely! There are many ways to get involved with our program. We are always seeking donations, sponsorships, and partnerships with corporations. Additionally, we offer the girls on-site experiences, such as site visits and work experience. If you or your workplace can provide these types of opportunities, please reach out to us.
